About Shri Satish Tare: Shri Satish Tare started learning Tabla from his father Late Shri. Madhav Tare. He took advanced training from Pt. Arvind Mulgaonkar (in Mumbai) for almost 10 years. He completed his Diploma in Music from Mumbai University under the guidance of Pt. Vibhav Nageshkar. During his stay in Pune, he learned from Shri Vivek Joshi. Currently, he is learning from Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri at the Ali Akbar College of Music. Shri Satish Tare is not only an accomplished Tabla Solo player, but also a great accompanist. He has accompanied many great artists such as Shri Shridhar Phadke, Shri Ravindra Sathe, Shri Shaunak Abesheki, Smt. Asha Khadilkar, Pt. Habib Khan, SivaMani, and none-the-less Pt. Hridaynath Mangeshkar.

About the Tabla Classes: The tabla is a widely popular Indian percussion instrument used in the classical, popular and religious music of the Indian subcontinent. The instrument consists of a pair of hand drums of contrasting sizes and timbres.The term tabla is derived from an Arabic word which means "drum". * Classes are taught in a friendly environment, giving the student a comfortable learning atmosphere.Teacher to student lineage is an integral part of traditional study methods. * Classes introduce and develop understanding in tabla stroke technique, recitation (the fundamental spoken tradition that goes hand in hand with the playing technique) and rhythmic theory. Each class focuses on underlying techniques/mechanics for mastering either Tabla Taala (rhythmic cycles), phrases, or compositions with the use of Padhant, concentration on Laya (tempo), Nikas (clarity of sounds), and focus on maintaining a required posture. * Virtual classes available via video-conferencing.
